Inspired By: Luxe Leisurewear
Sportwear’s assault on our daily wardrobes continues as designers add a sportif spring into our summer step. The middle picks up the mantle as the season’s new erogenous (and now workout) zone from Phoebe Philo’s Celine cut-outs to Julien Dossena’s leotard rifs at Paco Rabanne. On the street we saw crop bras replacing singlets, and track tops and pants (complete with go-faster stripes) teamed with party heels. Note that what we won’t be donning are gym bags: clutches and chain-bags have been deployed to keep this athletic look elegantly evening. On your marks…
It Appeal: Tom Ford Sneakers
Even fashion’s reigning king of elegance Tom Ford couldn’t jog past the allure of the designer trainer. Ford just stepped up the luxe factor a tad. Cue metallic leathers, exotic skins and even a touch of velvet for his fancy women’s sneaks and high-tops. His signature TF logo is, of course, also stamped onto each trainer’s tongue.
It Appeal: Jordan Askill’s new hearts
To celebrate the launch of his new e-commerce site, contemporary jeweller Jordan Askill has enamel dipped his cult heart rings. The Australian-born, New York-based designer’s 9 carat gold heart signatures have been recast in shades of sapphire blue, red ruby, emerald green and a grey agate for the holiday season. Just one more reason to heart the talented Mr Askill.
