This season Chanel’s set maestro Etienne Russo of Villa Eugenie planted a colonial-style glasshouse within Paris’ Grand Palais, blooming with all sorts of tropical species crafted solely from paper in a feat of craft engineering. “They’re flowers that don’t exist, it’s a vision of an earthy paradise,” Karl Lagerfeld said. The set offered the perfect oasis for Lagerfeld’s relaxed silhouette dominated by cropped, mid-drift jackets teamed with hip-slung skirts, before floral buds burst into bloom and Lagerfeld declared, “The waist is the new cleavage”. Not to forget the traditional couture bride who was escorted by ‘gardener’ bridesmaids carrying exotic stems.
Fendi is celebrating 2015’s year of the sheep with a new capsule Peekaboo and bag bug collection in honour of Chinese New Year. The red ostrich or leather versions come in mini or regular sizes with crystal crazy eyes and are of course, accessorised by two new critters ‘Furry Cracker’ and ‘Fur Yang’ – each made from fox fur, lapin and mink. The range lands in Fendi flagship stores globally this February.
While most of us where high on our January detoxes, Tom Ford gathered his nearest and dearest London posse at Chiltern Firehouse for a winter cocktail party themed ‘Noir Extreme’. Guests including Leigh Lazark, Lily Allen, Mollie King, David Gandy and Alexa Chung took over the Californian bungalow-style surrounds of the celebrity hotel hang in looks from Ford’s racier-than-thou S/S 2015 runway collection. Mulberry’s always had a soft spot for a pool party and the British brand’s latest was thrown at LA’s Chateau Marmont. The ‘Out of Towners’ dinner at the hotel’s Bungalow One drew a red carpet crowd that included Cressida Bonas, Gillian Anderson, Rosamund Pike, Dominic West, Adrien Brody, Laura Carmichael, Poppy Delevingne, Camilla Belle and Wes Anderson, along with Chateau owner André Balazs.
Before a dinner of roast chicken and grilled branzino, Mulberry held a private screening of its new seasonal film, which stars Cressida Bonas and Freddie Fox. Directed by Ivana Bobic, with creative direction by Michael Howells, watch this space for its release come March.
