The suit is back in business for A/W 2014 with Jason Wu taking the reigns at Hugo Boss, Raf Simons’ bold tailoring at Dior and the revival of French tuxedo house Pallas with the help of Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking muse Violeta Sanchez.
It seems that after seasons of mastering mix-matched tailoring, it once again feels right to coordinate. The new uniform was being adopted by models and fashion editor’s alike at the collections – although the day time pairings were anything but basic black. Velvetine fabrics and bright white were just as popular as power dressing pin-stripes.
The unanimous view on accessories was a simple clutch or agenda (chain bags crumple shoulder pads no matter how small), and everything from sneakers to slide sandals or boots underfoot. However, given the pared-back palette, this may also be the perfect opportunity to add a little fun with a cartoon connection bag by Moschino, Charlotte Olympia, Olympia Le-Tan, Anya Hindmarch or Chanel.
